The sound of the palaces of Al-Andalus in Rajasthan

ODO goes back in time, and immerses us in a sound journey from Al Andalus to Rajasthan led by universal sounds, building real bridges, through the musical art of the different cultures of the Mediterranean and the Orient.

_cc781905- 5cde-3194-bb3b-136bad5cf58d_     Un dialogue entre l'univers musical florissant des palais d 'Al-Andalus, region of the Iberian Peninsula and Septimania which was under Muslim rule from 711 to 1492 with the sound of the palaces of the Maharajas of Rajasthan.

_cc781905- 5cde-3194-bb3b-136bad5cf58d_     Cette rencontre nous dévoile la subtilité des influences, des origines and musical sources. It oscillates between familiarity and strangeness. Echoes that come and go from afar...

_cc781905- 5cde-3194-bb3b-136bad5cf58d_     Des chants à la confluence des cultures gitanes, hindoues et Muslims, bewitching music from the traditional and sacred Rajasthani repertoire, meeting the Western musical poetry of that time:

Arab-Andalusian music, traditional Judeo-Spanish songs, Latin sacred songs and Cantigas de Santa-Marias (devotional songs written and compiled by King Alfonse of Castile in the 13th century known as Alfonse el Sabio, an enlightened monarch who welcomed at his court, Jewish, Christian and Muslim musicians).

_cc781905- 5cde-3194-bb3b-136bad5cf58d_     En continuité avec les mixed traditions of Andalusia, where Muslims, Jews and Christians lived on the same land, avec ECHO, the dialogue continues with Rajasthan.

_cc781905- 5cde-3194-bb3b-136bad5cf58d_     Les musiciens créent un son unique par leurs instruments traditionnels, the qanoun and the nay, the tablas and the harmonium. A voice, a feminine sensibility that brings together the delicacy of the breeze and rootedness in the earth. The other voice, the heritage of a very old cultural heritage and the reflection of a living and spiritual musical impregnation.
